Liverpool are interested in Fulham man Fabio Carvalho, according to James Pearce of The Athletic.

Carvalho, 19, has been on Fulham’s books for many years now, working his way through their youth ranks before being handed his senior debut for the club.

However, the Portugal native is now out of contact in the summer of 2022 and, as reported in The Athletic by Pearce, Liverpool are interested in landing the attacking midfielder.

However, a lot of clubs are said to be interested, with Pearce adding that getting him in the summer would make more sense given his contact situation: “There’s interest [from Liverpool]. There are lots of clubs keen on him. Getting him in the summer would make more sense as he will be out of contract and available for a compensation fee.

“The question is whether Fulham try to cash in before the January deadline. They’d get more money now than relying on a tribunal.”

Who is Fabio Carvalho?

Carvalho would be handed his senior Fulham debut in 2020/21, scoring one league goal in four Premier League outings.

But following Fulham’s relegation, Carvalho has become a regular feature this term, netting eight and assisting two in 17 league outings so far in 2021/22           .

Carvalho is an attacking midfielder by trade, but as Liverpool do not generally operate with a traditional no.10 under Jurgen Klopp, could we see Carvalho moved into a central midfield role much like Harvey Elliott?

Alternatively, Klopp could probably use the Portuguese as a winger on either flank should he wish to.
