Tottenham Hotspur star Giovani Lo Celso has taken to Instagram on Sunday, to provide an insight into his surprise omission from the club’s squad to face Chelsea.

Antonio Conte’s troops are of course set to return to action in short order, having made the trip across the capital for a showdown with Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.

The matchup marks a crucial one amid the club’s efforts to secure a top-4 berth, no doubt desperate to take advantage of north London rivals Arsenal’s slip-up at home to Burnley earlier this afternoon.

Spurs’ efforts to get the better of the European champions, however, will come sans the contribution of the aforementioned Lo Celso.

This comes with the Argentine, altogether surprisingly, having been completely omitted from the matchday squad selected by Antonio Conte:

The immediate assumption on the part of the Lilywhites faithful, in turn, was that Lo Celso had simply picked up some form of fitness concern in the buildup to Sunday’s clash.

As alluded to above, though, the enigmatic midfielder has himself since moved to shut down such suggestions.

In a post on his official Instagram account, Lo Celso confirmed that he is in fact ‘100% in good physical condition’:

Blues eyed

A win for Tottenham in west London this evening would prove absolutely monumental when it comes to not only the hopes of Conte’s men of securing a top-4 berth in the Premier League, but too in tracking down their upcoming opponents in 3rd.

This comes with Spurs, as things stand, sitting in 7th, with 36 points to their name.

Chelsea, meanwhile, remain behind Manchester City and Liverpool in 3rd, with 44 points.

A triumph at Stamford Bridge on Sunday would therefore see the Lilywhites close the gap on their capital rivals to just five points.

Even more significant, though, is the fact that Tottenham boast a whopping four games in hand on Chelsea, owing to a series of fixture postponements over the festive period.
