Arsenal have seen themselves linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Kante has proven himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe of the last five or so years, playing a key role in Chelsea winning the Premier League and Champions League, whilst he also helped guide France to World Cup glory in 2018.

However, Kante is now 31 and in the final year of his Chelsea contract. As a result, it appears the west Londoners are open to selling him.

In a recent article discussing Manchester United’s midfield targets, The Athletic said: “Kante’s Chelsea future is uncertain and sources say he is expected to be made available for a reduced price due to his contract expiring in 12 months and Thomas Tuchel’s desire to freshen up his midfield.”

Now, whilst Manchester United have been credited with an interest, it appears Kante is also being eyed by Arsenal.

According to Spanish outlet Todo Fichajes, Arsenal are interested in a transfer deal for Kante, with it claimed a deal could be done in the next few days for as little as €20m.

Given Kante’s injury record and Arsenal’s history of buying old Chelsea stars, signing the former Leicester City man may not be the best option.

But even if Arsenal can get 20 league games a season out of him for the next few years, his quality could be enough to secure the Gunners a return to the Champions League.
