Luis Diaz has spoken out after netting his first goal for Liverpool.

Diaz was signed by Liverpool from FC Porto in the January window and has hit the ground running at Anfield.

The Colombian was handed his second Premier League start for the Reds on Saturday vs Norwich City.

The relegation-threatened side would actually take the lead in the game, but Liverpool were able to complete a second-half comeback, with Diaz netting Liverpool’s 3rd and final goal on the day.

After the game, Diaz said the following regarding his first goal for Liverpool on Instagram: “Very happy to score my first goal at my new home”

Elsewhere, Jurgen Klopp was full of praise for his latest signing: “We saw now two games when Luis played – came on or played – where he was absolutely incredible.

“Today it was hard work for him as well, it was a tricky one, a tricky encounter. “So then staying on the pitch, staying in the game shows then the real quality because we changed system and brought Luis in the centre and Sadio in his natural position.”

“Sadio scored anyway in the centre but Luis makes this wonderful run in the centre as well. It’s good, he’s just an outstanding talent, a really, really good player. “I think he is very happy tonight. He should be.”

After Manchester City dropped points vs Tottenham at the weekend, Liverpool are only six points behind them with a game in hand.

The game in hand is the Leeds tie, with Manchester City not back in league action until the weekend coming up.

So, it is imperative Liverpool pick up three points against a struggling Leeds side to really give up a proper title race for the end of the season.
