Syria’s new president Ahmed al-Sharaa will speak at the UN General Assembly later this Wednesday, becoming Syria’s first leader to take part in a UN high-level meeting in nearly 60 years. It comes at a crucial time for the country as it seeks to rebuild, and expand international ties, after over a decade of conflict and global isolation.
