EU leaders attending Thursday’s emergency summit are set to discuss changes to fiscal responsibility rules that would allow member states to ramp up defence spending. « These are rules that were introduced 15 years ago in response to the debt crisis that erquire countries to stay below a certain defecit threshold, » says FRANCE 24’s Brussel’s correspondent, Dave Keating. « Under this proposal that would be exempted for defence spending allowing countries to majorly increse their defence. »
