Speculation coming out of Brazil suggests young Santos forward Marcos Leonardo is on his way to Liverpool.
The speculation emerged recently when presenter Milton Neves, a long-time entertainer on Brazilian TV, was, on Sunday evening, making comments on Santos’ draw against Corinthians, and said the following: “Corinthians yesterday escaped being defeated by the Santos kids. Marcos Leonardo, who’s going to Liverpool, this guy is the new Romário!”

Little more information has emerged regarding Liverpool swooping for the ‘new Romario’ but it would certainly be a solid signing for the Reds were they to indeed pull it off.
Leonardo is a product of Santos’ academy and, despite being 19, he has already notched 94 appearances across all competitions for the Brazilian outfit.
In those 94 games, he has scored 25 and assisted four, with 12 of those goals and three of those assists coming in 31 outings during the current season.
Leonardo is also a regular feature for Brazil’s under-20 side and captained them on three occasions at the end of 2021, including when he netted a hat-trick vs the USA.
The centre-forward is under contract with Santos until December 31, 2026, having just received a contract extension in January of this year.
