Arsenal have been handed a major team news boost ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea as it has emerged that Alexandre Lacazette has travelled with the squad.

The French striker, who missed the 1-0 defeat to Southampton at St Marys, Arsenal’s third straight defeat, was touch and go for the clash with Thomas Tuchel’s side Mikel Arteta revealed on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old had tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time this season last week, but seemingly came through Tuesday’s training sessions with no complications or issues, meaning that he could well feature from the off as the Gunners look to get their top 4 charge back on track having lost valuable ground in recent weeks.

Young squad theme continues

Arsenal’s squad has been paper thin since January, when several fringe options left the club on a mix of loan and permanent deals. As a result, they have seen plenty of youth on the Gunners bench, with the likes of Marcelo Flores, Arthur Okonkwo, Zac Swanson and Charlie Patino all having featured this season among the 18 man squad.

And the trip to Stamford Bridge is no different, as both Omari Hutchinson and Miguel Azeez have been spotted with the first team squad in west London.

Meanwhile, it is thought that Romelu Lukaku will be starting for the home side as they look to continue to solidify their grasp on third place and keep their momentum going as their season drifts until the FA Cup final next month.
