Footage of Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard finding the net at Anfield this afternoon has gone altogether viral across social media.

For those not aware, one-time midfielder Gerrard is currently locked in action back on Merseyside.

This comes with the following Liverpool XI consisting of club legends facing off against a Barcelona outfit featuring talents the likes of Edgar Davids, Rivaldo and more.

And, as alluded to above, early in the action at Anfield, it was hosts Liverpool who opened the game’s scoring.

After being felled in the penalty area, Steven Gerrard quickly dusted himself down before slotting home in typically confident fashion, in the process giving rise to jubilant celebrations across the stadium:

Barcelona, though, have since levelled things up, courtesy of Roger Garcia.

Charity work

Saturday’s Anfield clash comes as part of an ongoing charitable push on the part of Liverpool’s official foundation.

As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms, ‘the fixture will help to raise funds for a variety of LFC Foundation projects including its employability and training, and health and wellbeing programmes, which form an important part of the charity’s COVID-19 recovery support work.’
