Arsenal are currently locked in Premier League action with Aston Villa.

The Gunners headed into the game looking to bounce back from a rare loss, which they suffered at the hands of Liverpool on Wednesday.

Villa, though, were expected to prove a much sterner test. And with Manchester United not in action this weekend – plus 6th place West Ham and 7th place Tottenham facing off on Sunday – Saturday’s match was a great chance for Mikel Arteta and co. to put some distance between themselves and the top-four chasing sides.

So far, the north Londoners are on course to do exactly that.

Saka makes Arsenal history

Arsenal would completely dominate the first 45 minutes of action, penning Villa back in their own half and creating a number of chances.

Arteta’s side would eventually take the lead on Saturday after half an hour.

A scramble in the box saw the ball fall to Bukayo Saka, who smashed his effort through a crowd of players and past former teammate Emiliano Martinez:

After Saka scored vs Villa, Arsenal revealed that his goal was their 2000th in the Premier League:

Elsewhere it was also revealed that Saka, at 20 years and 195 days old, is the youngest Englishman to score five away goals in a single Premier League season for Arsenal.
