FC Porto legend Eurico Gomes has recently made an interesting claim about Liverpool’s signing of Luis Diaz.

Liverpool would sign the Colombian star to a deal until 2027 at the end of the January window.

The Reds are believed to have paid an initial €40m for Diaz, with a potential extra €20m in add-ons.

And, according to Gomes, the deal was not a good one for Porto, with the former player under the opinion that Liverpool got Diaz for a bargain price:

“It was not a good deal,” Gomes said. “Porto don’t find themselves in a comfortable financial situation, but the truth is that Liverpool got Diaz for a bargain price.”

Former coach speaks out on Liverpool’s Luis Diaz

Elsewhere, Julio Comesana, who coached Diaz at Colombian side Junior, has also been speaking about the now Liverpool star.

And Comesana was full of praise for the young talent, labelling him a very humble boy and also backing him to settle quickly on Merseyside: “He’s a very humble boy.

“I’ve never seen him fighting others, being disrespectful or drawing attention for what he does on social media. He’s a protagonist where he needs to be and that is on the pitch.

“I have no doubt whatsoever that Diaz will be able to settle quickly in Liverpool because that’s the story of his life. He’s an adapter.”
