Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has issued a brief response after Arsenal sent a message directed at the now Barcelona man.

The news of Aubameyang’s departure was made official by Arsenal on Tuesday, with the Gabon striker leaving the club by mutual consent.

Aubameyang has now joined FC Barcelona on a free transfer, which may seem like poor business from Arsenal, but as 101 covered on Tuesday, it is expected to save the Gunners over £25m.

Following Arsenal confirming the news of the 32-year-old leaving the club, they would post thank you message to Aubameyang on social media.

Aubameyang responded to this message with a simple red love heart emoji:

A very brief message for what has been a solid, until the last few months at least, stint in north London.

The forward went on to feature on 163 occasions for the Gunners, netting 92 and assisting 21 in the process.

It would be 2019/20 that saw the forward’s most prolific return for his now-former club.

In the Premier League, Aubameyang would score 22 and assist three in 36 outings for Arsenal.

Elsewhere, Aubameyang played a crucial role in Arsenal winning the FA Cup in 2020.

He would net twice as Arsenal beat Manchester City 2-0 in the semi-final, before netting another brace as Arsenal ran out 2-1 winners over Chelsea in the final.
