A reunion between Mauricio Pochettino and Tanguy Ndombele could be on the cards at Paris Saint Germain, on one condition.

The French midfielder has fallen out of favour at Tottenham once again, and is actively looking to move on from north London this January. Spurs would likely be keen to recoup some of the fee that they paid to make him their record signing in July 2019, but this seems incredibly unlikely given the performances produced by the Frenchman since he joined the club.

As a result, a loan move seems the most likely, with Paris Saint Germain and Mauricio Pochettino seemingly the most interested party for his signature until the end of the season.

To make the move happen, however, PSG would have to be willing to cover his reported £200,000 per week salary for the remainder of the season. This could prove a sticking point even for the deep-lined pockets of PSG’s owners, with Ndombele flattering to deceive in Tottenham colours and set to compete in a midfield that already boasts plenty of quality.

Where would Ndombele fit?

While lazy may not be the word to describe Tanguy Ndombele, he is certainly far less energetic than some of the other options in PSG’s current crop of midfielders. Georgino Wijnaldum, Leandro Paredes, Marco Verratti and Idrissa Gueye are all already on the books of the French club, while Ndombele would disrupt the PSG gameplan of 7 hard workers behind three superstars.

It doesn’t seem like a particularly sensible move, unless it is to play against the lower league opposition where creativity may be needed. Tottenham, however, probably won’t care.
