Cristiano Ronaldo bags award

The latest edition of The Best FIFA Football Awards was held on Monday evening.

Unlike the Ballon d’Or, Lionel Messi did not take home the big prize, with Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski instead being named the FIFA Best Men’s Player.


Elsewhere, Cristiano Ronaldo would win The Best FIFA Special Award, which he received for breaking the record for most men’s international goals.

CR7 is currently on 115 goals for Portugal, with the previous record 109.


Pele sends message to Cristiano Ronaldo

Now, after bagging an award on Monday, Cristiano Ronaldo has been sent a message by Brazilian legend, Pele.

Pele, along with Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, are after often talked about as being the greatest-ever players to grace the game.

And now, one all-time great has shown his support to Cristiano Ronaldo via an Instagram message which reads:

 ‘@cristiano, congratulations on the special tribute from FIFA. I’m looking forward to meeting you in person to give you my hug. I recorded this message with great care. See you soon! #TheBest’.
