Supporters of Manchester United have flooded to social media on Monday evening, to take aim at manager Ralf Rangnick.
Moutinho makes the difference
Rangnick, of course, guided his troops back into action a short time ago.
After the likes of West Ham and Tottenham above them secured all three points amid the tense battle for a top-4 berth in the Premier League over the weekend, the Red Devils welcomed Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford, eyeing a 2nd successive victory of their own.
When all was said and done, however, to say that United’s efforts towards that came up short, would be putting it lightly.
A frankly dismal display, across which Wolves remained in control throughout, ultimately culminated in Bruno Lage’s outfit emerging on the right side of a 1-0 scoreline.
15 – Wolves had 15 shots against Man Utd in the first half – it’s the most on record (since 2003-04) a visiting team has had at Old Trafford in the opening 45 minutes of a Premier League game. Knocking. #MUNWOL

The game’s solitary goal was forthcoming just inside the closing ten minutes of action, as Phil Jones’ header to the edge of the area was picked up on by the superb Joao Moutinho, who went on to pick out the far corner of David de Gea’s net in style:
THERE IT IS!!

Rangnick targeted
In turn, on the back of a defeat which could prove hugely costly in the club’s pursuit of Champions League football for next season, it should not come as all that much of a surprise to hear of the Manchester United faithful being up in arms on Monday night.
The Reds looked neither solid defensively nor threatening in the attacking third over the course of the 90 minutes against Wolves, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Aaron Wan-Bissaka having struggled throughout.
Post-match, however, it is in fact not United’s stars who have come in for the vast majority of the criticism online.
This unwanted honour, instead, has been reserved for manager Ralf Rangnick, with just some of the many highlights from across Twitter showcased below:
I’m not buying in to the Rangnick thing. I just don’t get any of it. The system is crap, we’re playing much worse than ever, morale looks at an all time low, the team look disjointed. Even more of a mess than before. #MUFC #Rangnick

In a game where we’ve failed to dominate the midfield from the first minute, we left VDB on the bench. Rangnick that’s on you mate.
