Chelsea fail Brighton test

Chelsea failed their latest test, in a massive blow to their title credentials, as they were held to a 1-1 draw with Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

Romelu Lukaku scored the opening goal of the game midway through the first half, heading home from an out-swinging corner from Mason Mount, but truthfully Chelsea were second best for much of the encounter.

Graham Potter’s men were by far the better side at Stamford Bridge, but in typical Brighton fashion, created plenty of chances that they could not convert. Until the 90th minute. A cross floated into the box was planted firmly in the corner by former Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck, to send the away fans into ecstacy.

The game was something of an even contest for the first half, with both sides trading blows, the Seagulls stole the initiative for the opening part of the second 45 minutes, as the Blues hung on.

Then. Tuchel and his side steadied the ship with the addition of one man, though it ultimately proved futile.

N’Golo Kante saves all

Now, Chelsea fans have taken to social media to point to one man as the player that steadied the Chelsea ship in the second half, despite the scoreline.

The player in question? N’Golo Kante.

Blues fans were quick to heap praise on the returning Frenchman, as can be seen below.

Although ultimately in vain, how lucky are Chelsea to have a player like N’Golo Kante?
