Ahead of Tottenham’s meeting with Liverpool, Antonio Conte has been discussing Harry Kane.

Tottenham vs Liverpool

Tottenham will play host to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon in a 4:30 pm kick-off.

Spurs head into the game on the back of a Covid-19 outbreak within their squad.

Liverpool have also had some issues of their own on the covid front, but still remain one of the most in-form sides in Europe right now.

Conte on Kane

As a result, Antonio Conte will need all of his available players at their very best if Spurs wish to get anything against Liverpool.

One man who has not been at his best for some time, though, is Harry Kane.

Kane has scored some goals against poor sides in Europe this term, but his Premier League record is concerning.

In 13 league outings to date, Kane has scored just one and assisted one – a serious drop-off following Kane’s superb 2020/21 which saw him notch both the most goals and assists in the PL.

Now though, Conte has been discussing Kane and his form. Firstly, the Italian labelled the Englishman as world-class:

“Harry is a world-class striker. Every day that I train him I understand very well that he’s a world-class striker,” Conte said.

“He’s one of the best I’ve had the pleasure to train. He’s amazing. I like to have him in my team. For sure Jurgen [Klopp] likes to have Mo Salah. But I like to have Harry in my team. He’s an important player for us and my expectation was very high and to play an important game against Liverpool.”

Then, when discussing Kane’s form, Conte claimed that it is very strange:

“It’s very strange, no? It’s very strange,” Conte added when discussing Kane’s form.

“If you compare what he did in the past, this is very strange. But also in the past, in my experience, before as a player and then as a coach, it happens. I played with important strikers who, for a long period, didn’t score.

“But my judgement about them didn’t change. I wanted to have them in my team also if they don’t score. Because if you have Harry Kane in your team, you feel stronger, for sure.”
