A fresh pair of quotes surrounding the possibility of Red Bull Salzburg talent Karim Adeyemi making the move to Barcelona will no doubt pique the attentions of the club’s fanbase on Monday evening.
Blaugrana concerns
It is of course common knowledge that, ahead of the January transfer window reopening, La Liga giants Barcelona are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements.
New boss Xavi Hernandez has been left with something of a conundrum in the attacking third over his first few weeks in the job at the Camp Nou, owing to a terrible stretch of luck on the personnel front.
As things stand, all of Martin Braithwaite, Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay and Ansu Fati are on the sidelines, due to respective fitness issues.
Add to this the fact that Antoine Griezmann was allowed to secure a return to Atletico Madrid during the summer, opening the door for the bizarre arrival of out-of-favour Luuk de Jong, and the woes facing Xavi in the final third become clear for all to see.
‘If I want to change…’
And, as alluded to above, on Monday evening, a fresh insight into the possibility of one such hitman linked with a move to the Catalan capital actually taking his talents to Barca has been provided.
The player in question? Karim Adeyemi.
The name of teenage sensation Adeyemi will no doubt be well known to those of a Blaugrana persuasion, with the German, a long-time rumoured target, in the midst of a scintillating opening to the campaign with Red Bull Salzburg.
In turn, speaking to the media a short time ago, it came as little surprise when the representative of the 19-year-old, who is already a full German international, was drawn on the subject of Barcelona’s interest.
Unfortunately for those hopeful of seeing Adeyemi donning the famed red and blue in the near future, however, it was confirmed that Xavi’s side is ‘no longer an option’ for the attacker.
Despite the board at the Camp Nou having tabled a proposal for his services, Adeyemi has opted to secure a return to Germany, amid the widespread understanding that he will soon link up with Borussia Dortmund.
‘Two days ago we said definitive ‘no’ to Barça’s proposal for Adeyemi. Barça is NO longer an option for Karim. The best thing for him is a German club.’

Barca’s hopes of landing the Salzburg star, at least at some point down the road, however, do not appear dead in the water just yet.
This comes with Adeyemi himself having also been questioned on the interest of the Catalans this evening.
And his response proved considerably more encouraging than that of his agent, with the explosive youngster having point blank refused to rule out the possibility of a future Camp Nou switch:
‘Barça is one of the best clubs in the world and I am proud that they love me. If I can see myself playing for Barça in the future? Of course. It’s a great club and if at some point I want to change, it could be.’
