Senegal’s public prosecutor on Saturday announced seven new charges against opposition figure Ousmane Sonko, and on Monday formally charged him with fomenting insurrection. « Mr Sonko’s supporters had called for protests against his arrest on Friday, but it seems so far relatively quiet, » says FRANCE 24’s Sira Thierij, reporting from Dakar, Senegal.
