Antonio Conte has sent a clear message to the transfer chiefs at Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer window opening.
This summer will be Conte’s first major window in charge of Spurs, and it will be interesting to see how the outspoken, stubborn Italian pairs with the generally tight, Daniel Levy.
However, before the window has even opened, Conte has sent a clear message to the higher ups in north London, stating that if you want to win something, you need players at the top, not medium level players:
“When there is an important player, it is important to try to sign him a top player will improve your team and the quality of your squad,” Conte said. “If you want to win something, for sure you need players at the top, not medium level players.”

Where do Tottenham need to improve?
It is clear that Tottenham need some fresh legs at centre-back, especially on the left where Ben Davies is their only decent option.
Tottenham could also do with a new player or two in the wing-back roles, with Matt Doherty the only wing-back to really excel under Conte.
And finally, Tottenham also need some form of back-up option to Harry Kane.
