Arsenal star Nicolas Pepe has, on Monday, provided a fresh insight into his future with the club.

Wide-man Pepe has, of course, endured an altogether underwhelming campaign on the red half of north London to date.

This comes with the former Lille star having been firmly usurped in the attacking pecking order of Mikel Arteta, by current first-choice wing pair Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

In turn, all told, Pepe has racked up appearances in just over half of Arsenal’s Premier League outings to this point in the season, a paltry five of which have come in the form of starts.

The Ivorian, to his credit, has fared better in cup competition, and did enjoy a purple patch across a trio of League Cup appearances earlier in the term, directly contributing to a head-turning six goals.

Nevertheless, though, Pepe likely remains altogether dissatisfied with his situation at the Emirates, having made the move to the English capital amid sky-high expectations, owing to a club record fee.

Speaking during an exchange with the media, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his future was put to the Gunners’ struggling winger on Monday.

And Pepe, after first insisting that his focus remains firmly on Arsenal’s pursuit of a top-4 berth, did appear to throw his future in north London into doubt in suggesting that ‘we will see what happens’ in the summer:

Pepe, of course, will be hopeful of securing at least some playing time in Arsenal’s post-international break return to action, this day next week, when Mikel Arteta’s troops make the trip to Selhurst Park for a Premier League meeting with capital rivals Crystal Palace.

This comes after the 26-year-old provided a timely reminder of his talents in front of goal during the week, in finding the net in impressive fashion during a friendly clash between Cote d’Ivoire and world champions France:
