In a heartwarming turn of events, Christian Eriksen has been recalled to the Denmark national team nine months after suffering a cardiac arrest in his nation’s Euro 2020 opener.

The now-Brentford midfielder collapsed during Denmark’s Euro 2020 opener with Finland, sparking concern across the footballing world. He was susequently fitted with a pacemaker, meaning that he could no longer play for Inter Milan as the device broke Serie A rules.

After a short while training in the Netherlands, he returned to top-flight action as he joined Brentford for the remainder of this season. And, in his three appearances for the Bees so far since joining, he has already opened his assist account for the club.

Now, he has been recalled to the Denmark squad for the upcoming friendlies against the Netherlands and Serbia, which will cap a remarkable turnaround nine months on from what seemed to be the end of his footballing career.
