Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has, on Saturday night, provided an insight into the wellbeing of midfield star Mason Mount.

For those not aware, Mount was afforded his latest start earlier today, as the Blues went in search of Club World Cup glory in a showpiece meeting with Brazilian giants Palmeiras.

The English international, however, lasted just half an hour, before being forced to limp out of proceedings owing to an unspecified injury issue.

Speaking to the media on the back of the action coming to a close at The Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, Thomas Tuchel, in turn, was inevitably asked for an update on Mount’s wellbeing.

And the Chelsea boss went on to confirm that his midfield standout has indeed picked up an ankle injury, amid concerns over a potentially serious ligament problem:

Havertz the difference

Mount’s fitness woes aside, it of course proved an otherwise stellar night for Chelsea in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

This comes with the Pensioners having eventually emerged on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline, to secure their status as world football’s standout club side.

After proceedings were sent to extra time owing to Raphael Veiga cancelling out Romelu Lukaku’s opener, Kai Havertz netted the game’s winner with a full 117 minutes on the clock, slotting beyond Weverton from the penalty spot to spark delirious celebrations amongst the club’s players and travelling supporters alike:
