Haaland’s release clause set to activate in summer

The 2022 summer transfer window is expected to centre around one man.

That man is Borussia Dortmund and Norway striker, Erling Haaland.

It has been public knowledge for some time that the 21-year-old has a release clause that will allow him to depart Dortmund as early as this coming summer.

The actual fee required to activate said release clause has not yet been 100 per cent confirmed, but it is suggested to be between €75-100m.

For that sum, though, any potential buyer would be purchasing one of the best talents in world football.

Despite only being 21, Haaland has already scored 76 and assisted 20 in 75 outings for BVB, and is expected to go on to dominate the footballing landscape for the next decade or more.

So, when his release clause becomes active in the summer, a dog fight is expected to ensue for his services.

Barcelona to target Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes?

One of the sides linked with Haaland of late has been FC Barcelona.

It was even claimed by the Daily Mail, citing reports from Spain, that Mino Raiola, the agent of Haaland, has promised Barcelona they can sign the striker in the summer, if the club can raise the funds needed.

However, should Barcelona not be able to sign Haaland, it appears they have an alternative target in place.

As per the Daily Mail citing Spanish outlet El Nacional:

Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes is Barcelona’s top target if they fail to land Erling Haaland in the summer

Fernandes and Haaland are not exactly similar players, but it seems as though Barcelona simply want to sign a marquee player? If that is the case, despite his recent form, Fernandes fits that bill.
