Lukaku reveals all in shock interview

An altogether bizarre incident occurred last week as an interview from Romelu Lukaku to Sky Italy was aired.

In said interview, Lukakau discussed a wide range of topics, but what stood out most was his confession that he is not currently happy at Chelsea, and that he would like a return to Inter Milan while still at the peak of his powers (although not necessarily immediately).

As a result of his interview, Lukaku was dropped from the Chelsea side that battled to a 2-2 draw with Liverpool in one of the games of the season on Sunday, a move which threw his Chelsea future into doubt.

It has since been clarified, however.

“No intention of leaving”

Now, as per Fabrizio Romano, an update has surfaced about just where Lukaku’s immediate future lies, after the Belgian hinted that he would like to return to Inter while still in his prime.

And for Chelsea fans keen on retaining their record-signing, Romano provides good news.

Taking to twitter, the transfer guru revealed:

Romelu Lukaku explained to Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea board that he has no intention of leaving the club in January.

Meanwhile Chelsea, for their part, would not have countenanced selling their latest addition midway through a season in which they still have ambitions of silverware. However, this way they are not forced to keep an unhappy Lukaku against his will.

It is unclear as to whether Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham will come too soon for Lukaku’s reintegration into the side, but it seems that it is now a case of when, not if, he returns to the side.
