Recent reports stemming from Spain have credited Tottenham with an interest in two Barcelona stars.

Conte & Tottenham

Tottenham would sack Nuno Espirito Santo and appoint Antonio Conte as their new manager back in November.

Conte has not had the easiest of starts to life back in England, with Spurs having three Premier League games called off recently either due to weather or Covid-19.

In the games he has taken charge of, however, Conte has had his side looking much more organised and, barring that embarrassing loss to Mura in the Europa Conference League, they have not lost a tie.

In the Premier League, Conte has taken charge of five games so far, drawing with Everton, beating Leeds, Brentford and Norwich before then playing out an enthralling 2-2 draw with Liverpool this past weekend.

This has seen Spurs move up to 7th in the Premier League with the Lilywhites having at least two games in hand on all of the teams above them which, if they win them all, could potentially see them move up to 4th in the table.

Tottenham eye Barcelona duo

However, though Spurs have had a solid start to life under Conte, the former Juventus man is no doubt aware that this side is by no means the finished article.

In particular, Tottenham do seem to lack a fair bit of quality on their backline.

At centre-back, the likes of Eric Dier, Joe Rodon and Davinson Sanchez are probably not the types of players a side who should have top-four ambitions would want.

At left-back, meanwhile, Sergio Reguilon is Spurs’ only decent left-wing-back, whilst Matt Doherty could also probably be improved upon on the opposite flank.

And, they could be set to address these areas in January, with the Express, citing reports from Spain, reporting that Tottenham are interested in signing Barcelona duo Sergino Dest and Clement Lenglet in the January transfer window.

With Dest able to operate as a left and right-back and Lenglet a centre-back, the duo would no doubt be welcome additions in north London.
