Featuring guest appearances from both OGs (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/jeezy\">Jeezy<\/a>) and newcomers (CLIP), as well as production contributions from Grammy nominees Take A Daytrip (\u201cIntro\u201d) and OG Parker (\u201cUncle Al\u201d), <em>City Cinderella<\/em> is an impressive manifesto for the next stage of JT\u2019s career. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAcross the tape\u2019s 16 tracks, JT \u2013 born Jatavia Johnson \u2014 reflects on how her childhood traumas shape her present-day attitude, flexes her millennial status with nifty samples and interpolations that properly situate her in hip-hop history, and displays the evolution of her rap skills. She supplements the sexual liberation of her City Girl days with more luxurious beats that amplify the weight of her tone. Long toted as the standout MC of that hitmaking duo, JT makes formidable strides in fulfilling her potential with <em>City Cinderella.<\/em>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRemarkably, as she explained in her <em>Making of City Cinderella <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=M18fab9ekv4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">documentary<\/a> (July 17), this mixtape is not the product of months of intense studio sessions. Rather, <em>City Cinderella<\/em> came together as JT traversed the U.S. on a headlining club tour that featured countless memorable, high-drama\u00a0nights, including shootings, fights, power outages and, hilariously, a meet-and-greet in a deep freezer after a busted fuse in the main room of the venue sent one night awry. \u201cReggie, the promoter, kept apologizing because he underestimated the crowd that I was going to bring,\u201d she says with a laugh. \u201cIt wasn\u2019t even enough liquor at one point! But me and him built a strong connection. He flew all the way from D.C. to my listening party.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tJT\u2019s ability to form genuine connections \u2013 whether it\u2019s with artists in the New York alt scene, Mugler creative consultants or her fans (a.k.a. the Juvies) \u2014 comes from her authenticity. She\u2019s never tried to be someone she\u2019s not, and even when she\u2019s bracing for a personal evolution, she doesn\u2019t leave behind what she truly loves. Her club tour may have drawn some jeers because of the small venue sizes, but those shows were packed shoulder to shoulder \u2013 and that\u2019s nothing to scoff at when some of her more commercially successful peers are struggling to fill larger venues. Lightning-fast rises will never disappear, but JT\u2019s slow-and-steady approach is already proving to be a winning strategy for building career momentum. [<em>Laughs<\/em>]. No, for real! It\u2019s that joy. You feel all the pain before you push it out, and you just be nervous and scared like, \u201cI\u2019ve never had this before. I don\u2019t know how people would take and react to it.\u201d But the first night, everybody was <em>loving<\/em> the project. And then you get your postpartum. Then you find the joy because you never had it before, you don\u2019t know what to do with all of it. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI\u2019m so happy. I love my project. I loved my project before I put it out, and that\u2019s what really matters. It\u2019s been projects I done put out and I really didn\u2019t want to stand behind it, because I didn\u2019t love it. I stand behind this project so fully and thoroughly, because it\u2019s literally my project. I wrote it.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt was actually one critique that I loved \u2013 it wasn\u2019t even bad to me. I can take [it] because it makes sense. They was like, \u201cI feel like on this part she was very monotone.\u201d And I told my A&amp;R that! I already know that. So that was my only doubt. Because I know that the climate we in, music is so uptempo and TikTok is really taking over music to the point people can\u2019t really put out a body of work no more. Every single, you feel like you gotta hit, you gotta knock hard. When I was growing up, I used to listen to projects front to back and it was [different] vibes. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>The mixtape\u2019s title definitely showcases the juxtapositions present in your aesthetic as well as your come-up story. What were you pulling from when you were creating the solo JT sound and style?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen I first announced that I was doing <em>City Cinderella<\/em>, that was like the dusty Cinderella part of the story, when I had to literally get out there and grind and announce it and go to the clubs and push and let people know, \u201cHey, I\u2019m now a solo artist.\u201d It was not easy because I got backlash and I got sick a lot in early parts of that club tour. It was a shooting \u2013 like, I was in the trenches! It was a lot of s\u2014t that I did not tell about the [behind the scenes] of what I went through just to get to this point. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSo, when that <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ThegirlJT\/status\/1808214354850206152\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">mixtape cover art<\/a> came out and it was just so beautiful, I feel like that was\u00a0the beautiful part of the story \u2014 because I think that everybody was expecting it to be more like what they were seeing in the gritty part of the story. It started off dirty and it ended up so beautiful.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>People were loving that cover art! I even saw some comparisons to Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s <em>Renaissance<\/em> cover.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOriginally, it had the title on it \u2014 and I have OCD, so I know that I was not going to want to look back at that title after a while. It didn\u2019t give classy to me, it cheapened the original picture to me. When I took it off \u2014 [with the help of] my friend Renell [Medrano], respect to her \u2013 I knew that was it. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI didn\u2019t spend much of [my label budget]\u00a0with this rollout, because I put a lot of my own money into a lot of stuff [in terms of] rolling out the project. When it got to the project and I had put in all the work, [the label] wasn\u2019t really shooting down prices, so my budget was a little high for my cover art. The people that I first was reaching out to [gave] me a hard time to shoot my cover. It got to the point where it was, either I find somebody who could shoot this cover or I\u2019m going to end up not having a cover that I want. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSo, I reached out to Haley Wollens \u2013 who I met at Mugler through my [late] friend Monica [Suh] \u2014 and she loves me, she thinks I\u2019m her muse. She was like, \u201cGirl, I would love to do your cover!\u201d So, we came up with the ice sculpture idea, put the mood board together, shot [the cover] on Friday and we put it out Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI\u2019m glad that I end up going with [Neva Wireko], a local Black girl, instead of a company that would overcharge me. The main cover was supposed to be me with the blue swimsuit and the crown looking down, but the other [look] ended up photographing so flawless and timeless.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI know people was going to compare it to <em>Renaissance<\/em>, but I was not in no way shape or form thinking about <em>Renaissance <\/em>when I shot my cover. But you know how people are, they just look at colors, they don\u2019t even know what the f\u2014k they looking at. So, my first step was ignoring them because the love was so much bigger than those comments. They were salty that I served like that. They were like, \u201cThis b\u2013ch ate it, what else can we say about this?\u201d So, they went with that. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut who wouldn\u2019t want to be compared to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/beyonce\">Beyonc\u00e9<\/a>? That is the queen! What were you listening to while creating <em>City Cinderella<\/em>?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI\u2019m not gonna lie, my intro (\u201cHope\u201d) was heavily inspired by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/rick-ross\">Rick Ross<\/a> and \u201cOh\u201d was inspired more by Jeezy. For that outro (\u201cStar of the Show\u201d), I listened to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/jay-z\">Jay-Z<\/a>. When I first heard the beat for \u201cStar of the Show,\u201d I [knew] I had to get in my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/the-diplomats\/\">Dipset<\/a> bag. That\u2019s what I grew up on. I listened to a few Jay-Z songs, and he\u00a0got that slow flow, so I used that for some inspiration and kept crafting and crafting and it turned out great.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI am a \u201890s baby. I am a millennial kid, so I grew up in the era of Dipset and \u201cMake It Rain\u201d and all that. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/rick-ross\">Rick Ross,<\/a> to me, was one of the artists that made it mainstream [from my city], after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/trick-daddy\">Trick Daddy<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/trina\">Trina<\/a>. I used to love his music, it used to make me feel [luxurious]. When you listen to his old mixtapes, that was very luxurious, slow raps and put-together projects. And that\u2019s what I wanted to do.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>What\u2019s your relationship with New York like?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI live here!\u00a0 I\u2019ve been living in between New York and LA since me and my boyfriend got official. Me and my boyfriend moved in together in 2021, and we was living here and L.A. He was trying the L.A. thing just for me, because he\u2019s from Philly. After a while, he was like, \u201cOh, baby I\u2019m not pretending to like L.A. no more.\u201d I wanted to be in L.A. because of the sun and the trees. He wanted to be in New York because he\u2019s right down the street from home. We came to a conclusion when we found the perfect condo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen I went back to Miami for the club tour, it was so big. It was a big deal that I was home \u2014 because I don\u2019t live there, but they love me. They respect me. I stay true to my roots. They understand that I don\u2019t live there for many reasons. I\u2019d probably still try to scam if I lived in Miami! [<em>Laughs.<\/em>]\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>When you\u2019re picking beats, what are you listening for?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFeeling. Texture. I don\u2019t want the beat to take over me, I want to hear my voice. I want it to be smooth but still have a unique trap element to it. You know what song almost did not make the project and everybody loved it? \u201cUncle Al.\u201d It was another song that was supposed to take its spot. I had too many songs on the project and between the [now scrapped] title track and \u201cUncle Al,\u201d the label picked \u201cUncle Al.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>\u201cUncle Al\u201d [a tribute of sorts to the beloved late Miami radio broadcaster Albert \u201cDJ Uncle Al\u201d Moss]\u00a0is a <em>hit<\/em>. And it\u2019s such an authentic take on Miami bass, do you have any memories listening to Uncle Al\u2019s music growing up?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI\u2019m a big Uncle Al fan! I had to call my dad the other day and I think he found the tape I\u2019m thinking about. I remember my fifth birthday, we was in Orlando, my daddy, me and my sisters and my uncle. My dream was to call the radio station and ride \u2013 that\u2019s what they used to call it. You would call a radio station and you ride, you introduce yourself and you get to talk on the radio. My dad never used to let his kids do that, but he finally let me on my birthday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOff the top of my head, I had to ride, and I was like, \u201cFrom the J to the A to the\u00a0T-A-V-I-A\/ something-something-something, you know I don\u2019t play.\u201d [<em>Laughs.<\/em>] The last thing I said was, \u201cMy momma done turned it out.\u201d I was so happy my daddy let me ride. It was really a full-circle moment to have Uncle Al as a standout figure on my album. Al was really, really big on underground radio. I was always a huge fan of underground radio\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Your love for the underground really shows on the tape with artists like buzzy New York rapper CLIP. Talk to me about working with her and the rest of the features on <em>City Cinderella<\/em>?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThat\u2019s my baby, I love CLIP. She\u2019s really in the underground, bruh. I think I\u2019m an alt girl, I ain\u2019t got nothing on those hoes <em>at<\/em> <em>all<\/em>. They\u2019re really undergound, the way they be living, I\u2019m like, \u201cTake me back to my car now.\u201d [<em>Laughs.<\/em>] I\u2019m just like, \u201cNo!\u201d I don\u2019t do drugs. It\u2019s like, I\u2019m not ready for this underground life, but they f\u2014k with me heavy because it\u2019s genuine.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMe and [CLIP] met in a studio in Brooklyn when I was trying to experiment with myself and make my own project. It was no label around, I used to go over there by myself with no security. We used to meet up in that b\u2014h, it was trapped out. It was so many different New York artists and it was messy.\u00a0 She rapped about a lot of sad [stuff] and I was like, \u201c<em>Girl<\/em>, you are depressing me\u2026 can we do some fly s\u2014t?\u201d And she was like \u201cOkay, yeah!\u201d and we came up with \u201cAll Stars\u201d and another song that\u2019s really fire. I\u2019m gonna put that one on my next project. I think [people] would like it more than \u201cAll Stars\u201d because it\u2019s very inspiring. \u00a0[CLIP] is such a gem. She is who she is and I love working with her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tNow, this is my second collab with Stunna Girl. I didn\u2019t want features on my project at first, but once I did Jeezy [on the \u201cOkay\u201d remix], I [figured I] might as well add other people on the project. So, I decided to put Stunna Girl \u2014 because\u00a0f\u2014k the mainstream s\u2014t, me and her mesh well. I sent her the song during crunch time \u2013 my label needed her to turn in her verse so we could get the CDs printed. I [held out for her] and when sent the motherf\u2014king verse back\u2026 I said, \u201c<em>This<\/em> is why I wanted this b\u2014h on my project.\u201d I need these gritty b\u2014hes to be talking on my s\u2014t! They can still talk that street talk them b\u2014hes need to hear! It was a no-brainer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Tell me more about your work on the production side of things?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI gotta call my A&amp;R, because I need my money! I was a real producer. I kinda co-produced \u201c90s Baby.\u201d We did that beat right there. Me and Buddha was just in the studio, and I was listening to this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/too-%24hort\/\">Too $hort <\/a>song from the <em>Booty Call<\/em> soundtrack [\u201cCall Me\u201d (with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/lil-kim\/\">Lil\u2019 Kim<\/a>)]. I was obsessed with the song, so I was like \u201cCan you do a Tupac-like, grungy beat?\u201d And then I was like, \u201cI want an interlude-type beginning.\u201d I had already did the hook in my mind, so I was like \u201cWhat\u2019s my favorite 90s song?\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/joe\">Joe<\/a>, \u201cAll the Things.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe whole song started off sounding like that, but then I made him flip it so it could get more gangsta. \u201c90s Baby\u201d ain\u2019t even have two verses. When I turned in the project, it was just a verse and an interlude, but my label was like, \u201cThis is the single, you gotta do another verse.\u201d So, I was whooping my own ass trying to do that second verse because I really wanted to match the first verse. It turned out great.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI also put together \u201cUncle Al\u201d right then and there, I made them get into their Miami bass. For \u201cHope,\u201d I worked with [Take A] Daytrip, and their history is very pop.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe second time we were in the studio together, I was too shy to even speak up because the vibe was so serious. But the next day, my A&amp;R [reminded me to speak up because the sessions were expensive], so I was like, \u201cCan we do a Rick Ross, luxury storytelling song?\u201d They started making the beat right then and there, and I went in and kinda freestyled the hook. The beat just talked to me, and I talked back to it, it was easy to storytell on it. They added the choir elements later, and they sent it back and I was like, \u201cOkay, <em>intro!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/s3xYCRVhPKE?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;fs=1&amp;hl=en-US&amp;autohide=2&amp;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>\u201cHope\u201d is a really powerful track. What does it feel like to be able to put something so personal as the opening track to your debut solo project?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIf you listen to the hook of \u201cHope,\u201d it\u2019s like a summary of how I feel and why I act the way I do. It was a powerful message and I feel like a lot of us are walking around with past traumas from a long time ago, and I just wanted to talk my s\u2014t. When the choir came in, it really made me emotional. I couldn\u2019t listen to it without crying. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI knew I wanted it to shape my project, but I [was worried] that my listeners, at their age, [might] not be ready to hear that type of music. We\u2019re in a climate with so much microwaveable music and it\u2019s going so fast. I was kind of doubting myself a little bit. When I did playbacks, \u201cOh\u201d was the intro, but then I was thinking about starting with \u201cStar of the Show,\u201d but that was definitely a closer, so I went back to \u201cHope.\u201d [One particular person] was rooting for \u201cHope\u201d to be the intro and I was like, \u201cYou look older, you might be setting me up!\u201d Then I was like, \u201cF\u2014k it, this is what\u2019s going to set me apart and make me different.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>You nod heavily to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/magoo\">Magoo<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/timbaland\">Timbaland<\/a>\u2019s \u201cDrop\u201d in \u201cJT Coming,\u201d did you try to clear the actual sample?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cJT Coming\u201d was a whole \u2018nother beat! The sample did not get cleared initially. I\u2019m still hoping and praying it happens, so I won\u2019t say why. I kept the most important part of it and I actually like the newer version of \u201cJT Coming\u201d now. When I listen to the one that was actually sampled\u2026 this version sounds better! \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI do want to sample some of their music in the future, and I think they\u2019re close to letting me do it, but it\u2019s politics with them older rappers. You gotta walk on eggshells until they understand the art of it and see it as worthy. But they got back to me two days before I turned my project in and they was like, \u201cOh, I think we should collab.\u201d So, we\u2019ll see.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>You have a lot of uptempo tracks on here, are you gonna be dancing on tour?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tYeah, I am! I gotta put together my show. My little Juvies be bringing the energy themselves, they want to do the show for me! They think that they are the stars of the show. I asked them, and they was like, \u201cNo, we don\u2019t want to see you dance!\u201d They must be thinking I\u2019m going to embarrass them. [<em>Laughs.<\/em>]\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong><em>Billboard<\/em><\/strong><strong> named you one of the ten hottest female rappers of the moment. What did you feel when you got that news?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI was so happy. When I seen that, I couldn\u2019t breathe because it was before \u201cOkay\u201d came out! I was like, \u201cHold on now, I\u2019ve got no songs!\u201d [<em>Laughs.<\/em>] But I noticed that y\u2019all recognized my hard work and my dedication to female rap. That\u2019s what it\u2019s mostly about. I did deserve to be named on that list because I\u2019ve been working hard to solidify myself as a solo artist. It\u2019s not easy to just come in and be neck and neck with these girls. It\u2019s a saturated market right now. And <em>Billboard<\/em> is important because if you don\u2019t make <em>Billboard,<\/em> you is a flop!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tGive me my flowers! All of my songs have hit <em>Billboard, <\/em>even if it was Bubbling Under.\u00a0They be trying to s\u2014t on Bubbling Under, and I appreciate [that chart] because there\u2019s so many songs that come out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>Choose one: \u201cJT First Day Out,\u201d \u201cSideways\u201d or \u201cNo Bars?\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt would not be \u201cJT First Day Out,\u201d she\u2019s eliminated. It would be \u201cNo Bars,\u201d I feel like that one kicked the doors down. It did what \u201cFirst Day Out\u201d thought she was going to do. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>\u201cEx for a Reason,\u201d \u201cMu\u00f1ekita,\u201d or \u201cAlter Ego?\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tYou don\u2019t put three bad b\u2013ches against each other, so let\u2019s start there. I\u2019m not gonna pick \u201cEx for a Reason.\u201d She\u2019s eliminated first, because Summer Walker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.revolt.tv\/article\/2021-10-18\/123866\/summer-walker-responds-to-criticism-over-her-new-single-ex-for-a-reason\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">hated that song<\/a>. That was a traumatic experience for me. I\u2019m going to go with \u201cAlter Ego\u201d because I still kept true to myself on that song.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<strong>What else do you have on the way?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMy next project won\u2019t sound like this. It\u2019s so many layers to me. It might sound like \u201cParadise\u201d or \u201cAll Stars\u201d or \u201cUncle Al,\u201d we don\u2019t know! I have to shape what I want my next era and sound to be. I don\u2019t have to stay in one place. I\u2019ve seen some b\u2014hes complaining. Obviously I\u2019ve outgrown you hoes. It\u2019s plenty of other b\u2014hes y\u2019all can go listen to, but it ain\u2019t me. <em>City Cinderella<\/em> is strictly for the people that get it, the people that want to see me grow and love me.
