\n\tSESAC Latina celebrated its 30th anniversary with the annual SESAC Latina Music Awards, which took place on Wednesday (June 26) at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe ceremony \u2014 which included heartfelt speeches and a special performance by tejano\/norte\u00f1o group Intocable \u2014 awarded siblings Juli\u00e1n and Manuel Turizo<\/a> songwriter of the year, pop\/Latin rhythm. Meanwhile, for the first time ever, Salvador Aponte received the songwriter of the year, regional Mexican award. <\/p>\n

\n\tJuli\u00e1n and Manuel were recognized for their smash hit \u201cEl Merengue,\u201d which won song of the year, pop\/Latin rhythm. On the Billboard<\/em> Latin Airplay<\/a> chart, the song peaked at No. 1 last year. As for Aponte, he was honored for m\u00fasica mexicana songs he wrote like \u201cLa Patrona,\u201d \u201cSe Buscan Borrachos\u201d and \u201c1500 Pedas\u201d \u2014 all of which were recognized with performance awards. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe SESAC Latina Award for song of the year, regional Mexican went to \u201cFr\u00e1gil\u201d, written by Yahritza Mart\u00ednez and recorded by Yahritza y Su Esencia<\/a> and Grupo Frontera<\/a>. On the Latin Airplay chart, the song peaked at No. 2 last summer.<\/p>\n

\n\tMexican singer-songwriter Luciano Luna was honored with the Legacy Award. He has <\/strong>been previously recognized four times as\u00a0SESAC Latina\u00a0Songwriter of the Year for his many hits performed by a variety of acts, such as Banda El Recodo (\u201cLa Mejor de Todas\u201d), Calibre 50 (\u201cTus Latidos\u201d), Juli\u00f3n \u00c1lvarez (\u201cTe Hubieras Ido Antes\u201d), Grupo Firme (\u201cEl Reemplazo\u201d) and Banda Los Recoditos (\u201cMe Sobrabas T\u00fa\u201d).<\/p>\n
