Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has named his top three goalkeepers in world football right now.<\/p>\n

Ferdinand has played with and against some quality no.1s throughout his illustrious career, and when naming<\/a> his current top-three, stuck with a Premier League theme.<\/p>\n

According to the former centre-back, the best shot-stoppers in the world right now are Edouard Mendy from Chelsea, Ederson from Manchester City and Manchester United\u2019s David de Gea: \u201cIf I was picking a goalkeeper right now in the world, I think my top three \u2018keepers would be \u2014 and maybe people say you\u2019re biased because of the Premier League \u2014 but it would be Mendy, Ederson and, on form right now, De Gea.<\/p>\n

\u201cMendy stands out for me, especially in this last year, he\u2019s been impeccable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of that trio, Ederson and Mendy could very well have a proper claim to be the world\u2019s best keeper right now. The Brazilian is currently on course to clinch his third consecutive Golden Glove award, whilst Mendy was integral in both Chelsea\u2019s Champions League win last year and Senegal\u2019s recent AFCON win.<\/p>\n

Rio Ferdinand leaves out Liverpool\u2019s Alisson<\/h2>\n

Interestingly, Ferdinand would leave out Liverpool and Brazil keeper, Alisson.<\/p>\n

Alisson\u2019s impact at Liverpool would be huge and it is probably fair to say that his presence, along with Virgil van Dijk\u2019s, made it possible for Liverpool to win the Champions League and Premier League.<\/p>\n

Despite this, Ferdinand opted for David de Gea in his top-three over Alisson. Some Manchester United bias perhaps?<\/p>\n

David de Gea has certainly improved of late and was even named the January Premier League Player of the Month:<\/p>\n
