Now, with a trip to Turf Moor on Tuesday against a potentially tricky Burnley side, Ronaldo will have to find the back of the net in order to avoid equalling his worst goalscoring drought at club level since 2010.

Last time, while at Real Madrid, a 25-year-old Ronaldo failed to score against Malaga on the final day of the 2009-10 season, before drawing blanks against Mallorca, Osasuna, Sociedad and Ajax in the opening four games of the next campaign.

With just 2 goals in his last eight games for the Red Devils, there is no guarantee that he will be handed a start against Sean Dyche’s side, with Edinson Cavani due to be back in the fold.
