Cezar Azpilicueta\u2019s Chelsea stint<\/h2>\n

Chelsea would sign Cezar Azpilicueta from Marseille in 2012. The Blues are believed to have paid a reported \u00a37.92m for the defender.<\/a><\/p>\n

That transfer has since proven to be quite a bargain for the Blues. Azpilicueta has now become a staple of Chelsea\u2019s side, featuring on 454 occasions at right-back, centre-back and right-wing-back.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard has scored 14, assisted 56 and is now the Londoner\u2019s captain at 32 years of age.<\/p>\n

Azpilicueta has also played key roles in two Premier League triumphs, an FA Cup win, League Cup win and, most recently, Chelsea\u2019s second-ever Champions League win.<\/p>\n

Tuchel on Azpilicueta\u2019s future<\/h2>\n

However, the veteran defender\u2019s future is currently up in the air at Stamford Bridge.<\/p>\n

This comes with Azpilicueta out of contract at the end of June 2022.<\/p>\n

This currently means that the Chelsea man can sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club to then join said club on a free in the summer.<\/p>\n

And it has been claimed<\/a> that Azpilicueta had agreed a deal with FC Barcelona in principle, though no official confirmation was forthcoming on that.<\/p>\n

The player himself had this to say about his contract situation earlier in January:<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel I have the trust and confidence of the club. Eventually the moment will come, but I am fully focused on hopefully getting as many trophies as we can and then we will see. I\u2019m really committed \u2013 you know\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
