\n\tOn the surface, it would be hard to see any parallels between Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger<\/a>, 80, and Taylor Swift<\/a>, 33, aside from the fact that both are mega stars who send people into a frenzy when they walk into a room. But in a new interview with the Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/a> (pay-walled), the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer revealed that he feels a certain kinship with the \u201cAnti-Hero\u201d singer when it comes to the business of show.<\/p>\n

\n\tLondon School of Economics dropout Jagger \u2014 who said he began looking after the Stones\u2019 business affairs decades ago as an \u201cact of self-preservation\u201d because, as he said, \u201cIf you don\u2019t do it, you get f\u2013ked\u201d \u2014 told the WSJ<\/em> that he\u2019s proud to have paved the way for artists such as Swift to pull off huge arena and stadium tours. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOne of the things I\u2019m really proud of, with the Stones, is that we pioneered arena tours, with their own stage, with their own sound and everything, and we also did the same with stadiums,\u201d Jagger said. \u201cI mean, nobody did a tour of stadiums.\u201d In addition, Jagger said that the Stones\u2019 decision to form their own eponymous label in 1970 \u2014 with initial distribution though Atlantic Records \u2014 was an effort to take control of their rights that also has echoes in Swift\u2019s career.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe industry was so nascent, it didn\u2019t have the support and the amount of people that are on tap to be able to advise you as they do now,\u201d Jagger said of his band\u2019s move toward more autonomy more than 50 years ago. \u201cBut you know, it still happens. I mean, look what happened to Taylor Swift! I don\u2019t really know the ins and\u00a0outs of it, but she obviously wasn\u2019t happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJagger appeared to be referencing Swift\u2019s plan to re-record her first six albums in (Taylor\u2019s Version)<\/em> formats following a dispute with her former label, Big Machine Records, after it sold the rights<\/a> to those LPs to nemesis Scooter Braun; to date Swift has released re-recorded versions of Fearless<\/em>, Red<\/em> and Speak Now<\/em>, with the 1989<\/em> Version slated to drop on Oct. 27. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Stones are gearing up to release their first new studio album in 18 years, Hackney Diamonds<\/a><\/em> (Oct. 20) and while the legendarily hard-touring band have yet to announce dates for an accompanying tour, Jagger said he\u2019s not sure what it will look like when the octogenarian legends finally retire from the road. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cYou can have a posthumous business now, can\u2019t you? You can have a posthumous tour,\u201d he said of the possibility of a virtual Stones tour in the future that will not require their physical bodies. \u201cThe technology has really moved on since the ABBA thing [the pop group\u2019s\u00a0recent \u201cVoyage\u201d virtual show<\/a>], which I was supposed to go to, but I missed it.\u201d<\/p>\n
