\n\tBillie Eilish<\/a> was not one of the leading nominees going into the Grammy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 1), but when she came out on top in the song of the year category for \u201cWildflower\u201d from her 2024 album Hit Me Hard and Soft<\/em>, the 24-year-old singer added an 11th golden gramophone to her already groaning prize shelf, as well as launching another pointed dart at the Trump administration.<\/p>\n

\n\tShe had way more to say than the usual thank yous to her producer, label, the Recording Academy and God. Taking the stage with her writing partner and musical foil, brother Finneas, Eilish humbly accepted the award from songwriting legend Carole King.<\/p>\n

\n\tGiving props to the other nominees in the category, Eilish, who has been a loud and frequent critic of the Trump administration\u2019s anti-immigration tactics, said, \u201cAs grateful as I feel, I honestly don\u2019t feel like I need to say anything but that \u2026 no one is illegal on stolen land,\u201d as fellow nominees Sabrina Carpenter and the members of KPop Demon Hunters<\/em> band HUNTR\/X clapped in support of Eilish\u2019s message of unity.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd, yeah it\u2019s just really hard to know what to say and what to do right now,\u201d continued Eilish, who, like many in the audience at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, was wearing an \u201cICE Out\u201d pin<\/a> as part of a protest against Trump\u2019s immigration enforcement surge, which in January resulted in the killing of two American citizens<\/a> by immigration enforcement agents.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI feel really hopeful in this room, and I feel like we just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting. Our voices really do matter and the people matter,\u201d Eilish continued. \u201cAnd f\u2013k ICE is all I wanna say, sorry,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe singer-songwriter has spent the past month and a half speaking out loudly about the Trump administration\u2019s immigration actions, calling ICE a \u201cterrorist group<\/a>\u201d after its killing of 37-year-old poet and mother of three Ren\u00e9e Nicole Good, and blasting the organization\u2019s Minnesota operation<\/a> while accepting the MLK Jr. Environmental Justice award in January.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Eilish has been on an unbeatable Grammy run over the past few years, she came into Sunday night\u2019s show with just two nominations, winning the songwriter-centered song of the year award over a stacked deck that included Lady Gaga\u2019s \u201cAbracadabra,\u201d ROS\u00c9 and Bruno Mars\u2019 \u201cAPT.,\u201d Doechii\u2019s \u201cAnxiety,\u201d Bad Bunny\u2019s \u201cDtMF,\u201d HUNTR\/X\u2019s \u201cGolden,\u201d Kendrick Lamar and SZA\u2019s \u201cLuther\u201d and Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s \u201cManchild.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWildflower\u201d was also up for record of the year.<\/p>\n
