\n\tMiley Cyrus<\/a> knows how to work a room. The 33-year-old pop icon has been a Hollywood staple for much of her life and when it comes to pitching herself to directors for projects, Miley has a surefire method that seems to be working out for her: go to where they all are.<\/p>\n \n\tA perfect case in point is Cyrus\u2019 dramatic end credits song \u201cDream As One<\/a>\u201d in the new Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/em> movie from director James Cameron, which opened on Dec. 19 and has already raked in nearly $220 million in the U.S. and more than $760 million globally<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tSpeaking to People<\/a><\/em>, Cyrus said the Avatar<\/em> job came about because she threw it out there, \u201cas I always do,\u201d in describing her first meeting Cameron at the 2024 D23 Expo, where they were both honored as Disney Legends. \u201cI already knew the answer to, \u2018So what have you been up to? I know he\u2019s been up to Avatar<\/em> for a very long time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \n\tSo, Cyrus reminded Cameron that she was available if he ever needed some movie music, which was perfect timing as the director was developing the third in a planned five-movie series. \u201cIt just kind of organically happened,\u201d she said of the soundtrack job. \u201cJames actually calls us \u2018Legends in law.’\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tCyrus revealed that she also landed her Golden Globe-nominated song \u201cBeautiful That Way\u201d from the Pam Anderson drama The Last Showgirl<\/em> last year by going directly to the movie\u2019s co-star, Jamie Lee Curtis. \u201cThat\u2019s how I ended up doing Last Showgirl<\/em> and now being a part of Avatar<\/em>,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n \n\tAs it turns out, directly offering original songs to movie makers is a pretty efficient method for scoring soundtrack gigs. In fact, Cyrus just cut out the middleman this year and said she specifically attended the 2025 Oscars intending to offer up her services. \u201cNo, literally that\u2019s why I went to the\u00a0Oscars\u00a0this year,\u201d she said. \u201cEverybody that came up and introduced themselves, I said, \u2018Well, if you need any music, I\u2019m around.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tShe even pronounced herself available for shows that might not have second seasons. \u201cI don\u2019t know what I would write for\u00a0Baby Reindeer\u00a0<\/em>season two, but I threw that out there!,\u201d she said of her offer to the team behind Netflix\u2019s Emmy-winning psychological thriller Baby Reindeer<\/em>.<\/p>\n
