An altogether significant update in the ongoing transfer saga surrounding Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku has surfaced on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n

The name of Belgian international Lukaku, of course, took its place centre stage in the headlines at Stamford Bridge across the 2021\/22 campaign.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for the 29-year-old himself, however, this came for all the wrong reasons.<\/p>\n

After sealing a club-record return to Chelsea on the back of a scintillating campaign in Italy with Inter Milan, Lukaku was tasked with arresting the Blues\u2019 long-time woes up top, to lead the club\u2019s intended charge back towards the very top of the English game.<\/p>\n

But such efforts on the part of \u2018Big Rom\u2019, ultimately, came up short in spectacular fashion.<\/p>\n

All told, Lukaku racked up just eight goals, across appearances in 26 of Chelsea\u2019s 38 Premier League fixtures. Not only that, but, at one point in the campaign, the Belgian drew the ire of the Pensioners faithful owing to some altogether questionable comments regarding Inter Milan, culminating in his temporary exclusion from Thomas Tuchel\u2019s matchday setup.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Suffice to say, Lukaku\u2019s dream Chelsea return has not gone exactly according to plan thus far\u2026<\/p>\n

And, if the latest word stemming from the media on Sunday is anything to go by, then Chelsea, based on the evidence of just one season, could well be ready to admit their mistakes and move on from the club\u2019s most expensive ever player.<\/p>\n

This comes with Lukaku closing on an imminent return to Serie A with Inter Milan.<\/p>\n

As per a report from Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, a meeting between the respective boards at Stamford Bridge and the San Siro took place earlier today.<\/p>\n

And, during the latest round of negotiations, the former laid out their demands to sanction a loan deal for their under-fire attacker.<\/p>\n

It is understood that Chelsea are demanding a fee of \u20ac10 million, plus bonuses, to allow Lukaku to rejoin Inter for the upcoming season.<\/p>\n

With the Nerazzurri, for their part, ready to \u2018say yes to these conditions\u2019, an agreement, in turn, is viewed as imminent between the two parties.<\/p>\n
