It matches the reigns of two hits that led over one release cycle each \u2014 Shaboozey\u2019s \u201cA Bar Song (Tipsy),\u201d in 2024, and Lil Nas X\u2019s \u201cOld Town Road,\u201d featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, in 2019 \u2014 for the longest command<\/a> over the chart\u2019s 67-year history.<\/p>\n \n\tThe carol rules the Hot 100 in a record-extending seventh holiday season. It was originally released on Carey\u2019s album Merry Christmas<\/em> in November 1994 and, as streaming has grown<\/a> and holiday music has become more prominent<\/a> on streaming services\u2019 playlists, it hit the top 10 for the first time in December 2017 and the top five for the first time in the 2018 holiday season.
