And as has always been the case for the \u201880s-set show, music of the time period plays a big part in the action \u2014 and fans have updated their playlists and streaming habits accordingly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThough none of the newly featured songs are off to the blockbuster-type start enjoyed by songs by Kate Bush and Metallica in previous seasons, the first wave of <em>Stranger Things<\/em> S5 has already resulted in massive gains for nearly every song featured in its first four episodes. The biggest percentage bump is for Diana Ross\u2019 late-disco classic \u201cUpside Down\u201d \u2014 played as a coded radio transmission in episode one \u2014\u00a0which is up 373% to 953,000 official on-demand streams over the first four tracking days of this charting week (Nov. 28-Dec. 1) compared to the same period the week before, according to early data provided by Luminate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOther songs more than doubling in streams thanks to their <em>Stranger Things<\/em> usage include ABBA\u2019s \u201870s pop gem \u201cFernando\u201d (up 206% to 615,000 streams) and Tiffany\u2019s mall-pop staple cover of Tommy James\u2019 \u201cI Think We\u2019re Alone Now\u201d (up 289% to 1.3 million). And it\u2019s not just the period-appropriate soundtrack cuts surging: Michael Jackson\u2019s 1972 version of \u201cRockin\u2019 Robin,\u201d used as theme music for Maya Hawke\u2019s Robin character\u2019s radio show, is up 218% to 187,000 streams, while The Chordettes\u2019 episode two-ending 1954 pop smash \u201cMr. Sandman\u201d rises 173% to 564,000 streams.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAnd of course, the signature <em>Stranger Things<\/em> synch of them all is back: Kate Bush\u2019s \u201cRunning Up That Hill (A Deal With God),\u201d favorite song of Sadie Sink\u2019s Max character, recurs multiple times in the early parts of Season Five. The song may not yet be on its way to threatening a re-charting akin to the 2022 run that brought it to the Hot 100\u2019s top five for the first time \u2014 though it does re-enter Hot Rock &amp; Alternative Songs at No. 15 this week (chart dated Dec. 6) \u2014\u00a0but fans certainly aren\u2019t sick of it yet, as \u201cHill\u201d grows 110% to 2.7 million streams over the same period. By Oct. 29, a dance trend created by TikTok user <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@josh.diggss?lang=en\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">@josh.diggss<\/a>, who\u2019s created several dance challenges over the years, helped the song truly take off on streaming.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tUser @josh.diggss\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@josh.diggss\/video\/7568164473614241055?lang=en\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">first \u201cBoo\u201d dance clip<\/a> (with user <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@zeromeech?lang=en\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">@zeromeech<\/a>) garnered over 350,000 likes, and the challenge has since been joined by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@savannahrj_\/video\/7577584853386824990?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7517014253786678815\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Savannah James<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@dababy\/video\/7578251976996130103?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7517014253786678815\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">DaBaby<\/a>, and <em>Dancing With the Stars<\/em> pro <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@valentinchmerkovskiy\/video\/7578755466386246943?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc&amp;web_id=7517014253786678815\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Valentin Chmerkovskiy.<\/a> H3adband\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/original-sound-7561202385775790878?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">original TikTok sound<\/a> tied to \u201cBoo\u201d currently plays in over 103,000 posts, while the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/BOO-7561866459085801488?is_from_webapp=1&amp;sender_device=pc\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">official \u201cBoo\u201d sound<\/a> plays in over 2,300 posts. Between the dance trend and listeners noting the similarities between H3adband\u2019s and NBA YoungBoy\u2019s voices, \u201cBoo\u201d has been booming on streaming.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cBoo\u201d has risen 1,882% in official on-demand U.S. streams over the past three weeks, according to Luminate. During the week of Nov. 7-13, \u201cBoo\u201d earned just under 175,000 streams, marking a 260% boost from the 48,000 streams it pulled the week prior (Oct. 31-Nov. 6). Ward, never had major chart hits upon their late-\u201900s breakout, but became a cultural fixture of the time period with their wispy ballads and stripped-down covers of pop classics. And though the pair did release a full-length holiday favorite in 2011\u2019s <em>A Very She &amp; Him Christmas<\/em> set, it\u2019s a song from one of their strictly secular works that\u2019s finding renewed life as the Yuletide season approaches this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI Thought I Saw Your Face Today,\u201d a piano ballad from 2008 debut set <em>Volume One<\/em>, has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/music\/I-Thought-I-Saw-Your-Face-Today-6767541102724532225\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">gone viral on TikTok<\/a> through a series of edits setting the emotional post-breakup lament against famous movie and TV clips, nature montages and even sports highlight montages, with users unable to resist its sentimental undertow. (\u201cEveryb gangster till they listen to sum like this\u201d reads the top comment on the song\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=HJstyRBLqBQ\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">official YouTube page<\/a>, courtesy of @gav.on.rs.s.)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tConsequently, the song is scaling the streaming charts as few non-holiday songs generally do this time of year. It\u2019s up to over 2.5 million weekly official on-demand U.S. streams as of the chart week ending Nov. 27, according to Luminate, and even bounded into the top 100 of Spotify\u2019s Daily Top Songs USA for Monday (Dec. 1). The accompanying TikTok sound currently boasts over 78,000 posts, while the official \u201cHeaven\u201d sound plays in 700 different posts. As additional videos of performances at different funerals and family gatherings started to make the rounds, TikTok soon realized that Robinson frequently got booked to sing \u201cHeaven\u201d locally.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u00a0The song\u2019s melody and unique performance venues were part of the initial attraction, but the \u201c1, 2\u2026 1, 2, 3, release \u2018em\u201d ad lib before the chorus emerged as the true meme. According to Luminate, \u201cHeaven\u201d earned 18,800 official on-demand U.S. streams during the week of Nov. 14-20, according to Luminate, marking a whopping 874% increase from the 1,900 official streams it earned the week prior (Nov. 7-13).
