\n\tIn her extended interview with CBS Sunday Morning <\/em>posted Sunday (Sept. 21), the musician spoke at length about her love of fusing pop, jazz, R&B and hip-hop in her music. But while she\u2019s open to trying almost anything, Doja also revealed the genre that she \u201cwon\u2019t do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cCountry,\u201d she answered definitively before bursting out laughing. <\/p>\n

\n\tWhen interviewer Michelle Miller asked Doja how she personally defines her sound, the California native replied, \u201cI think pop. I think I\u2019m a rapper who makes pop music.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe conversation comes just a few days ahead of the release of Doja\u2019s new album, Vie<\/em>, which drops Sept. 26. Largely produced by Jack Antonoff, the LP \u2014 which follows 2023\u2019s Scarlet <\/em>\u2014 is largely \u201cpop-driven,\u201d the rapper has said<\/a> in the past.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn CBS Sunday Morning<\/em>, Doja explained that while Scarlet<\/em> was more of a departure from her signature blend of pop and hip-hop, Vie <\/em>is a return to form. \u201cIt\u2019s taken until the beginning of this next album, Vie<\/em>, to appreciate my older stuff,\u201d she said on the show, noting how she used to dislike one of her biggest hits, \u201cSay So,\u201d because of its mainstream sound. \u201cI think [this album] was a return to that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2018Cause Scarlet<\/em> was sort of this release of energy that was very different from all of that,\u201d Doja added. \u201cI feel like I\u2019m in a place where I want to do what I know.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tFans have already gotten a taste of the new album, with single \u201cJealous Type\u201d dropping in August. The track reached No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100<\/a>. <\/p>\n
