\n\tOscar Maydon<\/a> secures his highest-charting project on Billboard<\/em>\u2019s Top Latin Albums<\/a> chart as Rico o Muerto<\/em>, his third studio album, debuts at No. 6 on the chart dated June 21. The 12-track set also launches at No. 3 on the Top Regional Mexican Albums<\/a> chart.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cHonestly, I do think we deserved it,\u201d 25-year-old Maydon tells Billboard<\/em>. \u201cWe put a lot of hard work into this album, and it came together with some really powerful songs that we genuinely believed in. From the beginning, our goal was to reach the top of the charts\u2014not just for the recognition, but because we felt the album truly deserved that level of support from listeners.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tRico o Muerto<\/em>, released June 6 on Rancho Humilde\/Sony Music Latin, starts at No. 6 on Top Latin Albums with 13,000 equivalent album units earned in the United States, in the tracking week ending June 12, according to Luminate. Streaming activity contributes the majority of the project\u2019s first-week figure, which translates to 18 million official on-demand streams of the album\u2019s tracks, with a negligible amount of track-equivalent activity. One unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid\/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams for a song on the album.<\/p>\n \n\tThe new album follows Maydon\u2019s first top 10 debut on Top Latin Albums: Distorsi\u00f3n,<\/em> which opened at No. 9 in January 2024. Rico o Muerto<\/em> concurrently opens at No. 3 on the Top Regional Mexican Albums chart, his second top 10 project as well.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cIt was a project we poured our hearts into, and seeing it resonate with people made it feel like that top spot was well earned,\u201d says the Mexicali singer of his new album.<\/p>\n \n\tRico o Muerto,<\/em> which marks Maydon\u2019s debut on the all-genre Billboard 200<\/a> at No. 89, showcases a lineup of prominent regional Mexican stars. Peso Pluma, Fuerza Regida, Junior H, Tito Double P, Net\u00f3n Vega, and Luis R Conriquez all contribute to the project, while Anuel AA and emerging talent Victor Mendivil bring the only rhythmic dose outside the genre.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI think \u2018Zaza\u2019 (with Mendivil) was one of the songs I put the most heart into and definitely the one I worked on the most,\u201d Maydon remembers. \u201cIt\u2019s been almost three years of continuous work. In fact, not long ago, we stayed up working on it until 10:00 in the morning to finish it.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe song hasn\u2019t charted yet, but the album was preceded by two other singles: \u201cTu Boda,\u201d with Fuerza Regida, gave Maydon his only chart-topping hit on the Hot Latin Songs chart, where it dominated for 11 weeks between 2024-25. Plus, \u201cAmigos? No,\u201d with Vega,\u201d peaked at No. 33 on the chart dated June 7.
