\n\tDMX\u2019s<\/a> \u201cParty Up (Up in Here)\u201d became the biggest Billboard Hot 100<\/a> hit of his career at that point in 2000, but many didn\u2019t know the blaring anthem was a response to Kurupt.<\/p>\n \n\tXzibit<\/a>, who\u2019s sampled on Kurupt\u2019s<\/a> \u201cCalling Out Names,\u201d joined DJ HED\u2019s Effective Immediately <\/em>earlier in June, where he revealed how shocked he was when initially finding out that X\u2019s \u201cParty Up\u201d was a subliminal Kurupt diss, as both rappers had romantic ties to Foxy Brown. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWhat was crazy was when I found out that \u2018Party Up\u2019 was the answer to \u2018Calling Out Names,’\u201d Xzibit said before giving Drake <\/a>some suggestions for his battle with Kendrick Lamar.<\/a> \u201cThat\u2019s what Drake should\u2019ve did. He should\u2019ve made a \u2018Party Up.\u2019 Nah, but he tried to get down and knuckle up with it. I keep telling n\u2014-s, don\u2019t get into fights with n\u2014-s who like to fight.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201c\u2018Party Up\u2019 was a response to Kurupt,\u201d Xzibit continued before reciting DMX bars from the track. \u201cYou\u00a0wack, you twisted, your girl\u2019s a ho\/ You broke, the kid ain\u2019t yours and everybody know\u2026 They were fighting over Foxy Brown. We need to do a hip-hop 101.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cCalling Out Names\u201d arrived in 1999 and found the West Coast rapper sending several shots at DMX, Irv Gotti<\/a> and Ja Rule. <\/a><\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAnd I\u2019mma start callin\u2019 y\u2019all b\u2013h n\u2014s by name\/ Mothaf\u2014k D, Mothaf\u2014k M, only X I know is Xzibit or RBX, extraordinary\/ Tryna snatch my b\u2014h\/ You can have the b\u2014h,\u201d Kurupt raps.<\/p>\n \n\tDMX responded with \u201cParty Up (Up in Here)\u201d on his \u2026 And Then There Was X<\/em> album in December 1999.
