\n \t\t\t\t\tLISA of BLACKPINK Reflects on \u2018White Lotus\u2019 Acting Debut in Emotional Post: \u2018What a\u00a0Ride\u2026\t\t<\/p>\n<\/h3><\/div>\n

\n\t\u201cOh man\u2026 I honestly don\u2019t know what happened, except now I\u2019m reading his interviews because he decided to do some P.R. campaign about him leaving the show,\u201d White nervously laughed while speaking to Stern on his SiriusXM morning radio show. \u201cIn reading the interviews I just realized he\u2026 I just don\u2019t think he respected me. I think he basically, he wants people to know he\u2019s edgy and dark and I\u2019m\u2026 I watch reality TV,\u201d added White, who, has, in fact, joyfully competed on both The Amazing Race<\/em> (twice) and Survivor: David Vs. Goliath<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\tIn his chat with the Times<\/em>, Tapia de Veer compared his collaboration with White as being akin to the kind of rock bands he\u2019s been in before where, \u201cthe guitar player doesn\u2019t understand the singer at all.\u201d In fact, the composer who has won three Emmys for his work on the show said he\u2019d had creative conflicts with White since the very first season of the show. He noted that he thought the show runner\u2019s script for the first go-round was very \u201cwell-written,\u201d but that he felt the comedic, \u201creality TV kind of vibe\u201d did not fit with his \u201csuper dark and edgy\u201d musical leanings.<\/p>\n\n\t\u201cBut when we had the talk with Mike, I just told him in a joke that I thought we could do some kind of \u2018Hawaiian Hitchcock,\u2019 and he really grabbed on that and he started laughing,\u201d Tapia de Veer said, while also dinging White\u2019s original temporary score as \u201cnice background music\u201d with a \u201cchill, sexy\u201d Ibiza club vibe but \u201cliterally no edge to it.\u201d <\/p>\n
\n\tTapia de Veer also noted that after his divisive soundtrack for the just-concluded season received push-back from fans who missed the beloved melodies from the first two seasons, he planned to slyly bring back the \u201cool-loo-loo-loo\u201d vocalizations they desired, but that White \u201cwasn\u2019t happy about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tWhite seemed perplexed by the apparent animus, telling Stern \u201cwe never even really fought\u2026 he said we feuded. I don\u2019t think I ever had a fight with him, except maybe some emails. But it was just basically, like, me giving him notes. I don\u2019t think he liked having to go through the process of getting notes from me or wanting revisions or ever. I guess he just didn\u2019t respect me.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tIn fact, White told Stern that he\u2019s \u201cnever kissed somebody\u2019s ass so hard\u201d just to get them to be on board as he did with Tapia de Veer.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe show creator added that he knew Tapia de Veer was \u201cnot a team player and that he wanted to do it his way,\u201d but that he was thrown that the musician would go to the Times<\/em> to \u201cs\u2013t on me and the show three days before the finale. That was kind of a b\u2013ch move.\u201d Stern shot back that as the show\u2019s writer and creator, White should have had the power to weigh in on the musical choices on the series that is his sole vision.<\/p>\n\n\t\u201cAnyone that you hire, they gotta go with your vision, that\u2019s it!\u201d Stern suggested.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cWell that\u2019s honestly why it did work the first couple seasons, because we did go through the process,\u201d White explained. \u201cBut by the time the third season came around he\u2019d won Emmys and had his song go viral, so he just did not want to go through the process anymore. He didn\u2019t want to get notes from me\u2026 he always had this contemptuous smirk on his face whenever he was dealing with me. I think he thought I was just a chimp or something. I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tIn the end, White said he was confused by the ire over what he said was a pretty typical \u201ccreative difference\u201d with the composer he readily praised as \u201creally talented.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
