\n\tMumford & Sons<\/a> has returned to the top of the U.K.\u2019s Official Albums Chart <\/a>for the first time in nearly a decade with the release of Rushmere<\/em> (Apr. 4).\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe folk group\u2019s fifth studio album \u2013 their first since 2018\u2019s Delta<\/em> \u2013 has placed them back at No. 1, and follows two previous chart-toppers: 2012\u2019s Babel<\/em> and 2015\u2019s Wilder Mind<\/em>. Their huge 2009 debut, Sigh No More<\/em>, peaked at No. 2, as did Delta<\/em>. Each of the band\u2019s LPs \u2013 minus Sigh No More<\/em> \u2013 has topped the Billboard 200<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tRushmere<\/em> is the first LP from the group since the departure of guitarist Winston Marshall who left the band in 2021, with Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwayne continuing as a trio.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tThe group\u2019s upcoming arena shows sold out instantly upon ticket release last week, and will include two dates at London\u2019s The O2, alongside dates in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Cardiff, Glasgow and Sheffield in November and December.<\/p>\n \n\tRock band The Darkness<\/a> finish the week at No. 2 with eighth studio album Dreams on Toast<\/em>, their highest spot for 22 years. Earlier this week, guitarist Dan Hawkins threw down the gauntlet in the chart battle with Mumford & Sons, saying to Classic Rock<\/em> <\/a>that he was \u201cconfident\u201d that Dreams on Toast<\/em> would go to No. 1, adding \u201cWe\u2019re going to beat those c\u2014s.\u201d The flamboyant rockers\u2019 2003 debut Permission To Land<\/em> remains their sole chart-topper in the U.K.<\/p>\n
