Curtis Jones and Joel Matip.<\/p>\n<p>Midfielder Jones was afforded a rare Premier League start this afternoon, joining Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara at the heart of the hosts\u2019 engine room.<\/p>\n<p>The English youth international, though, was forced out of proceedings just beyond the hour mark, after picking up what appeared to be an ankle problem.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking post-match, Jurgen Klopp, in turn, was inevitably asked for an update on Jones\u2019 wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>And Liverpool\u2019s boss went on to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BenDinnery\/status\/1510282275799379968\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">confirm<\/a> that his midfield starlet did indeed \u2018twist his ankle\u2019, albeit with Jones having been able to \u2018walk normally\u2019:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe twisted his ankle and wanted a strapping, but we wanted to change anyway. He obviously could walk normally but I didn\u2019t see him yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stopper Matip, on the other hand, did manage to see out the full 90 minutes at Anfield on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The Cameroonian, however, picked up what Klopp described as a \u2018golf ball\u2019-sized bump on his head, owing to a clash late in proceedings. Matip, nevertheless, is expected to \u2018be fine\u2019 ahead of Liverpool\u2019s upcoming Champions League showdown with Benfica:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Klopp says Curtis Jones twisted his ankle, \u201cbut we wanted to change anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joel Matip had a \u201cgolf ball\u201d lump on his head, but will be fine.
