\n\tAfter a five-year break, Adam Levine<\/a> is back on The Voice<\/em> and it feels good. The singer said he\u2019s \u201cready\u201d and \u201crested\u201d after stepping away from the show for a bit, telling Jennifer Hudson on Tuesday\u2019s (Feb. 25) Jennifer Hudson Show<\/em> that getting a chance to take a break and hang with wife Behati Prinsloo and the couple\u2019s three young children has been good for him.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cStepping back into it when I was really ready and comfortable it kind of felt like natural timing for everything,\u201d said Levine, 45, who logged 16 seasons on The Voice<\/em> before splitting in 2019. Levine was there in the show\u2019s debut season in 2011, slipping into the iconic red chair next to Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green and his best frenemy, Blake Shelton.<\/p>\n

\n\tHudson, who overlapped with Levine during seasons 13 and 15, asked if Levine has changed his strategy at all on he show, noting that he was \u201cnot easy to deal with\u201d when she was going up against him. \u201cI\u2019m a pain in the butt,\u201d Levine admitted, revealing that there was no official strategy when the first crew started the reality series that his team won three times.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo you just think to yourself, \u2018Okay, I\u2019ll just see how this goes,’\u201d he said. More importantly, Hudson noted that Levine is now sitting in Shelton\u2019s old chair after the nine-time champ country singer departed his long-time gig in May 2023 after 12 years.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cDoesn\u2019t smell great,\u201d Levine laughed. \u201cSmells kind of off\u2026 weathered. Worn in, the seat\u2019s a little more sunken in cuz he\u2019s big\u2026 he\u2019s a tall drink of water that guy. Nah, I think they washed it. It feels good.\u201d He also described being on the \u201cother side\u201d of the stage this time, with John Legend book-ending the panel, a set-up the self-proclaimed \u201cend-seat kind of guy\u201d loves. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn the chat, Levine described taking his whole family on tour with Maroon 5<\/a> on the band\u2019s recent run of shows in Asia, as well as being a \u201cheated\u201d basketball coach for his kids and the group\u2019s upcoming \u201cM5LV\u201d Las Vegas residency<\/a> at the Dolby Live at Park MGM theater in March.<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd though he didn\u2019t reveal many details, Levine also promised that M5 has some new music coming \u201csoon,\u201d and though he admitted he always says it, he\u2019s \u201cthe most excited\u201d about the upcoming LP, their follow-up to 2021\u2019s Jordi<\/em>. \u201cWe scaled it back a little bit and I did some writing on my own.. I kept it tighter,\u201d he said of writing some of the songs by himself, saying they \u201charken back to the older stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n
