\n\tIf you attend one of the upcoming Daryl Hall-Howard Jones concert in November, you\u2019ll be treated to the same high-caliber musicianship that make\u2019s Hall\u2019s video series, Live From Daryl\u2019s House<\/em>, a must-see for music lovers. \u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cMy band is the best band on Earth,\u201d Hall tells Billboard\u2019s Behind the Setlist<\/em> podcast about guitarist and musical director Shane Theriot, keyboardist Greg Mayo, drummer Brian Dunne, bass player Klyde Jones, percussionist Porter Carroll Jr. and saxophone player Charlie DeChant. In each episode, the Live From Daryl\u2019s House<\/em> house band performs a handful of songs with a diverse group of musical guests who have recently included Jones, singer-songwriters Andy Grammer and Lisa Loeb, Robert Fripp, and Charlie Starr of the Southern rock band Blackberry Smoke.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tMost musicians would face a steep learning curve performing the songs, but Hall and his crew make it look effortless. The band is so good that, according to Hall, the members don\u2019t rehearse together before taping. Instead, Hall spends a little time on the songs with Theriot, and each band member has the music at home. \u201cWe get together in that room, turn the cameras on, and that\u2019s what you see,\u201d he explains.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tTake the episode with Fripp, the former King Crimson band leader who struck up a friendship with Hall in the mid-\u201870s and produced 1980 album Sacred Songs<\/em>. Hall says Fripp was blown away by performing with Hall\u2019s band. Fripp joined Live From Daryl\u2019s House<\/em> for renditions of such songs as \u201cYou Burn Me I\u2019m a Cigarette\u201d (co-written by Fripp and Hall), King Crimson\u2019s \u201cRed,\u201d David Bowie\u2019s \u201cHeroes\u201d and \u201cBabs and Babs\u201d from Hall\u2019s Sacred Songs<\/em>.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201c[Fripp] said, \u2018I have never worked with a band that didn\u2019t take at least three or four days to even begin to learn these songs. You guys just played them,\u2019\u201d says Hall. \u201cI mean, it flipped Robert out.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe tour is like a traveling version of Live From Daryl\u2019s House<\/em>. After Jones opens the show with the Daryl\u2019s house band, Hall, who\u2019s supporting his latest album, D<\/em>, will perform a set with the same band. Near the end of Hall\u2019s set, Jones will join Hall on stage to trade vocals on each other songs and perhaps throw in a cover song or two.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tHall and Jones were hitmakers at roughly the same time in the \u201880s. By the time Jones crashed the U.S charts in the mid\u2019-80s with songs such as \u201cThings Can Only Get Better,\u201d \u201cLife in One Day\u201d and \u201cNew Song,\u201d Hall was basking in the success of Hall & Oates\u2019 1980 album Voices<\/em>, which contained \u201cKiss on My List\u201d and \u201cYou Make My Dreams (Come True),\u201d and 1981\u2019s Private Eyes<\/em>, which spawned the hit title track and \u201cI Can\u2019t Go for That (No Can Do).\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tUntil recording Live From Daryl\u2019s House<\/em> last year, Hall and Jones had never met. Now they\u2019re prepping for a short tour together. \u201cHoward and I get along really well, and I think he\u2019s great,\u201d says Hall.<\/p>\n \n\tThe eight-date tour starts in Orlando, Fla., on Nov. 7, heads north to Evans, Ga., on Nov. 16, Nashville and Knoxville in Tennessee, and culminates in Atlantic City, N.J., on Nov. 23.
