\n\tDavid Gilmour<\/a> is back at the top of the U.K. Official Albums Chart<\/a>, celebrating his third solo No. 1 album with Luck and Strange<\/em>.<\/a> <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Pink Floyd<\/a> guitarist\u2019s latest release marks his ninth overall chart-topping record when combined with his work as a solo artist and a member of the iconic band. Luck and Strange<\/em>, Gilmour\u2019s fifth studio album, joins the ranks of his previous solo No. 1 albums, On An Island<\/em> (2006) and Rattle That Lock<\/em> (2015). <\/p>\n

\n\tThe new collection also tops the U.K. Official Vinyl Albums Chart<\/a>, solidifying its popularity among vinyl collectors and audiophiles alike.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement to Official Charts, Gilmour expressed his gratitude to fans: \u201cI\u2019d like to thank everyone who\u2019s bought my new album, Luck And Strange<\/em>, and helped to make it Number 1 in the Official Albums Chart.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThis latest achievement adds to Gilmour\u2019s illustrious career, which includes six U.K. No. 1 albums with Pink Floyd, such as Wish You Were Here<\/em> (1975) and The Division Bell<\/em> (1994). <\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, according to the rocker\u2019s press release, his latest project\u00a0Luck and Strange<\/em>, is \u201cthe best album I\u2019ve made since\u00a0Dark Side of the Moon<\/em>, since 1973.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe album feels like a solid body of cohesive work,\u201d Gilmour previously told Billboard<\/a><\/em> of the new album. \u201cIt\u2019s the cohesiveness of the whole thing \u2014 the writing, the work, the thrill it still gives me to listen to it all the way through as an album. There\u2019s a consistency of thought and of feeling that runs through it that excites me in a way that makes me make those comparisons.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso making moves this week, once again, is Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s Short n\u2019 Sweet<\/em>, which holds strong at No. 2 after three weeks in the Top 5.<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Oasis continues to dominate the chart, with Time Flies\u2026<\/em> (No. 3), Definitely Maybe<\/em> (No. 4), and What\u2019s The Story<\/em> (No. 5) all securing Top 5 positions. <\/p>\n

\n\tOther notable entries on the tally, published Friday, Sept. 13, include Link Park\u2019s 2024 hits collection\u00a0Papercuts,<\/em> which rebounds to No. 8 following the announcement of their new vocalist, Emily Armstrong, while Fred Again\u2026\u2019s ten days<\/em> comes in at No. 7, marking his second Top 10 album.<\/p>\n

\n\tFurther down the chart, Rex Orange County earns his third Top 40 LP with The Alexander Technique<\/em>, debuting at No. 15, following previous successes with Pony<\/em> (No. 5 in 2019) and WHO CARES?<\/em> (No. 1 in 2022). <\/p>\n

\n\tSouth London group Fat Dog makes their Official Albums Chart debut with WOOF.<\/em>, landing at No. 16 and topping the Official Record Store Chart. <\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, Ensoulment<\/em>, the first new album in 25 years from The The, enters at No. 19, marking their sixth Top 40 record. Ultravox\u2019s 1984 album Lament<\/em> returns at No. 35 after a 40th-anniversary edition, and Leeds four-piece English Teacher re-enters at No. 40 with This Could Be Texas<\/em>, following their 2024 Mercury Prize win.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
